I am humbled to have been a supporting part of the Keep Swimming Foundation's Inaugural Gala this past weekend at the Metropolis Ballroom in my hometown of Arlington Heights. Since I first learned about founder Bill Coon's personal story and his mission to help others, I knew this was something special to be a part of. The Keep Swimming Foundation provides financial relief to families affected by long term in-patient hospitalizations of a loved one. They provide assistance for costs associated with food, parking, gasoline, and hotel accommodations while families are focused on being with and caring for a hospitalized family member in critical condition. Bill started this organization after his family found themselves in debt while caring for him as he was hospitalized and in need of a heart and kidney transplant.
With a second chance at life, Bill is paying it forward. The Gala was held to raise funds for the Keep Swimming Foundation and was a time of fun and celebration. The silent auction was filled with autographed sports memorabilia including a Mike Tyson boxing glove that I got to photograph! I took photos of mingling during cocktail hour, classically trained vocalists performing Broadway musical hits, Bill speaking, and guests having a fun time dancing.
Here's a look at some of the highlights of the night:
